About Smilecloud
Smilecloud is a web based platform for dental specialists and provides advanced tools for Biometric Smile Design and centralised collaboration that greatly facilitates communication between dentists and technicians.
Create an account
Smilecloud is not only used to access Metalab services, but has many benefits in daily clinical practice. Create an account by accessing Smilecloud.com and Start Trial or use the Register button. When you create an account you have a 14 day Free trial, but take note that for purchasing Metalab services you need to have a paid Subscription.
Create your Case
Smilecloud is a cloud solution that allows you to store your cases and patient files in a secure and encrypted environment. It supports all dental related file types such as:
- Pictures
- Videos
- Intra-oral scans (.stl, .ply, .obj)
- Xrays
- Dicom files
- Pdf documents
What's great about this platform is that you don't have to install any software, any dongle, and you can access your work anytime from any device.
Smile Design
The 2D design serves as a visual representation of the treatment, and it is essential to ensure accuracy by selecting the appropriate shapes and position in accordance with biological possibilities. The dentist or technician typically creates the 2D design, but it is advisable to involve the patient in the decision-making process to ensure that their preferences and desires are taken into account. This will help to avoid any discrepancies before proceeding to the 3D design. See here how Smile Design works.
Metalab Order System
Orders are placed directly on your prefered Smile Design and the payment is charged by card. Once you’ve placed your order, a Metalab representative will be automatically connected to your case, and you can discuss any specific indications that you may have.
Based on your case requirements, a technician will be assigned to your case, and you’ll have the freedom to communicate with them in the case chat during the course of treatment.
Since orders are placed based on the approved 2D design with selected shapes, any changes of shapes on a delivered design will require a new order. However, the design includes one revision, which enables you to request changes in position and angulation. For prompt delivery, it is recommended that you have all the necessary initial documentation available.
Communication is key for achieving results as a team, so don’t hesitate to talk about the planning and requirements.
Review and Download
The technician will upload a preview file of the design for your review, and you may request a revision if necessary. Once the preview is approved by you, the printable file is finalised and uploaded to the case for you to download and print / mill in your office.
You can find it in the Settings section in the left Sidebar, and then you can just see all the automatic or manual backups. Restoring to the old backup is just a click away.

What is the delivery time for orders?
All Metalab designs are delivered in a maximum of 4 working days, but our team strives to provide your designs in the shortest time possible.
Am I required to provide the complete documentation?
Yes. Accurate designs are directly liked to accurate and complete patient documentation. Make sure you upload all the required documentation before placing an order. In case documentation is incomplete or has errors, our team will instruct you to provide new or missing files.
