Implant restorations

Smile Design and 3D review make planning easy to visualise, control and communicate across the case team.

Implant planning using Functional designs

Predictable outcomes are determined by accurate planning. This case was planned and designed across borders by doctor Juan Arias in Spain together with the Metalab team. Visual communication allowes the team to stay aligned during the entire planning process and manufacturing.

Case workflow

The planning process starts from a centralised collection of all the patients files: pictures, scans, dicoms. Having a virual patient which is centralised allows everyone working on the case to have a common perspective of the treatment goals and execution.

  1. Every case starts with the 2D Smile design and shape selection
  2. The selected library is then imported to exocad to create the functional design
  3. The functional design contains the ideal position of the future restorations and takes into account biology and function
  4. This Functional design is then used by the dentist to plan the implant position
  5. Once the implants are placed, the final restoration design is carried out as planned
  6. The digital restorations are then milled, stained, adapted and bonded.

Initial

Smile Design is conducted using portrait pictures which allows the future smile to be aligned to facial features

The functional design is reviewed and aproved by the dentist

A secondary review process is conducted by superimposing prep / scan body intra-oral scan and the functional design. This step assures that everything is according to plan before designing the final restorations.

Final restorations are manufactured and then bonded
